Mad for Plaid + Black Friday goodies

Although I usually end up in a food coma, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year.  Foods that are usually foreign to my daily routine are a decadent and welcomed treat, leaves are still turning (in NC) and the shopping season has officially kicked off-Christmas lights and all.  I can run with the best of the Black Friday purists-waking up at 6am, grabbing a cortado and heading to Saks or Nordstrom, but online shopping is also a very appealing and ever growing fabulous option for the crowd phobic shopper to bypass the sale induced frenzies that await outside and inside most stores the day after Thanksgiving.  Below are some of my picks for partaking from the comfort of bed, Friday and throughout the weekend.

Plaid//Leo

Having a good pair of flats is essential in New York and for someone who never set foot in a pair prior to my move here, they must be super stylish as well.  I’ll admit, it took some getting use to.  Losing my coveted extra 3-4 inches as a petite person was hard. However;  I began to see reason after a day in Soho left my feet and shoes less than desirable.

Grey//Gold

I love a good Fall color wave, but sometimes mixing in neutrals provides a pop against the fiery, golden leaves that are everywhere.  Mixing different shades and textures of grey keep a monochromatic outfit interesting.  A stroll through Central Park this weekend on our way to brunch, was the perfect way to spend a Fall afternoon in New York.

Grey Thoughts

I’m always a fan of the over-sized sweater, especially on freezing days when I tend to curl up inside them like a warm, fuzzy blanket.  Being short, I have to be careful that the sweater doesn’t wear me. I love the texture and color of this one from Zara and loved the detailing of the sides slits even more as they helped balance out the proportions on my petite frame.

Lazy//Sunday

Nothing is better than a lazy weekend, especially after a grueling week giving way to a picture perfect New York weekend.  I decided to pull out my crisp white denim again, pair with loafers and an easy stripe and hit West Village for brunch followed by a slow stroll through Central Park.  It turned out to be one of the most relaxing days I’ve had in awhile-of course with my sweet hubby in tow any day is amazing 🙂

Red & Pink

R&W full B

After coming off a week in Vegas full of pool parties, dinners, work functions and of course a spot…or two… of shopping, I was in desperate need of some relaxation.  Fortunately Labor Day welcomed me with open arms.

Saturday morning was reserved for a slow start with breakfast in bed and a recap session with my husband on how amazing Absinthe was (a must see) and what a giddy little cookie I’d become about breaking out my new bright vermillion Dior!  I have to admit, as an accessories lover, this little gem was a great find and a digression from my usual brand selection.  It’s also my first lambskin piece which I was assured by the sales associate in Dior, was the right choice. (More on this in a later post).  Amongst my dark Fall and Winter layers, I can’t wait for this pop of color to brighten any cold, gloomy day.

bwprint down

I’m always a fan of mixing prints, especially ones full of vibrant colors, but over the weekend, I decided to put a different spin on my mix by going black and white. The combo tends to always work and I love the added complexity that mixed prints brings to a classic color combo.
