Roots

roots full 2

After some much needed time off, my little clan headed down South to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  It was Pepper’s second time on a plane and he did so well (even met the captain). It was also the first holiday without Nanna which was hard but also nice to visit some of the places we use to go when I visited.  As I was heading towards Cameron Village (our lunch spot was always the Village Deli), I noticed the gates were open to Tatton Hall-a stunning estate flanked with the last of the Fall leaves. Everything about the grounds were Southern and provided the perfect backdrop for some photos.

Sweater Weather

change of season B

One of my favorite parts of colder weather is the chunky knits.  I love getting lost in a big over sized cashmere sweater on a cooler day and no one does them better than Nili Lotan.  I came across this grey one a couple of years ago and was in sweater heaven.  It’s cozy enough for the Fall and Winter, but still has the detail and structure a sweater needs.

Spring Tux

tux BEST INSTA

Halfway into our whirlwind excursion through Japan, we took a day to relax and enjoy the amazing weather (a fantastic change from the harsh cold in NYC). I took full advantage and of course opted for my white, tux jumpsuit-nothing says Spring has arrived like a crisp white ensemble.  When I spotted this little number, I could hardly wait to rip into The Dreslyn box that promptly arrived a week prior to our trip. I love the chic twist the tux detailing gives this jumpsuit.  Definitely ready to hit a rooftop bar in New York in my all white when we return!

Headbands are back

headband cross

When Lupita Nyong’o hit the Oscar red carpet, it was hard not to be memorized by her powder blue gown, but soon a frenzy started surrounding the thin gold band around her head.  “Headbands are back” proclaimed social media and fashion aficionados.

Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of them.  There are styles that I think are beautiful, but I’ve never been 100% sure of how to wear this accessory.  Several months ago I was in the Gemma Redux showroom and and spotted a headband that was to fabulous to pass up.  The combination of geometric rose gold secured with a leather tie felt more like  a golden crown.  I was (and still am) obsessed!  The construction is perfection, lacking the dreaded headband headache and full of luxe style.

Shreds

shread half

Distressed denim is having a moment right now and I couldn’t be more excited.  As you might have guessed, I have quite the collection spanning every shred possible.  Some were purchased with their scars in tow and others have earned their tatters as the years of ownership and adventures passed.  I love both versions.

As I started my hunt for a new pair of distressed lovelies, I came across A.P.C. ‘s Bulter Program and was intrigued by the concept.  Many denim purest will argue that man-made distressing just isn’t the same as owning and loving a pair from it’s raw state through to natural distressing.  The Butler Program gives you access to carefully selected, previously loved denim that along with natural wear even bears the original owners initials.

When it comes to the pre-destroyed versions, they need to be chosen carefully as not all are created equal. (Current Elliott are one of the best when it comes to this).

One of my favorite pairs of cutoffs are vintage Levi’s I found at a pop-up thrift shop in Sydney.  The holes and the wear are definitely authentic and it shows.  Whatever your preference, rocking some rips is a fun way to go.
