I can never resist stripes of any kind. They are neutral, timeless and just make me happy. When I spotted this dress, I was drawn to the classic stripe mixed with the asymmetrical hemline. This simple detail elevates the basic stripe shift to something amazing. Paired with a leather jacket and ankle boots will easily transition my stripes in to Fall.

Ever since our trip to Paris, I’ve been obsessed with stripes. Admittedly, I already had a fairly large section dedicated to them in my closet, but I can’t help adding new pieces, as they are a perfect neutral without being boring. There’s something so classic yet so versatile about stripes. They can take on an entirely new life paired with leather and ripped jeans vs. a girly skirt and sweet flats. Sunday felt like a stripe kinda day.

It’s no secret, I am a stripe lover and there is nothing better than a good mix of two pieces in that family. The thin mixed with the wide, the navy against the black-all of differences helped elevate an otherwise basic jacket and tee. The tee I’ve had for a bit, but I added the boucle Marant a few weeks ago as an investment piece I knew would work on every level. The fact that it combined, black and white, stripes and the nubbiness of the boucle-it was a no-brainer!

Stripes have always excited me and why shouldn’t they? The very thought conjures up strolls through Paris or an afternoon of yachting. The navy and white combo has always been the classic choice, but I definitely don’t discriminate against a neon version or multi-color version. I decided to add a tougher edge to my stripes by pairing some leather shorts. It’s still a classic look for me, but the addition of leather and heels gave me the chic factor … and of course my nod to the French – a Chanel bag. 🙂

There are a lot of things that go hand in hand: blood orange mimosas and Sunday brunch, tattered denim and a white tee and my personal favorite: leopard and stripes. I consider both prints neutrals and items one can never have enough of, but the combination of the two always seems to work. Stripes are the quintessential Summer print and I can’t wait to mix them with the best accessory of all…sand dunes and salty air.

Today was absolutely gorgeous! Sun shining, cool breeze and breathtaking harbor views. Nautical inspiration was a must. I will always have an interpretation on this trend, and love the fact that while classic, a unexpected detail can take the look from literal to personalized. Stripes are a no brainier for me, and the opposing lines on the back of this top made it irresistible.
