Layer me up

stripe full

As of late, I’ve found my wardrobe seems to evolve over the course of the day.  Layers go on, jackets come off, hair gets pulled back…you get the picture.  Weather and the types of meetings I have usually influence these shifts.  I decided instead of lugging around a massive bag full of clothing options, why not embrace how each piece can become part of a more interesting collaboration.

Bring on Spring

springquad

Bright colors are popping up everywhere with the anticipation of Spring’s long awaited arrival.  To make it through the last weeks of Winter, I’ve already started adding color to my closet.  This is my list of wants and some gems that I already own and love to brighten any day. Bring on the buds!

Shadow

I am quite literally so ready for Spring, I’m hallucinating daises, so I definitely capitalized on our 50 degree weather this past weekend.

Transitioning from black to grey was my first order of business in the denim department.  There are so many shades (insert obvious pun here) which again put me in my usual denim dilemma.  I added these babies to my always growing collection and have found them to be one of my most versatile pairs.  Grey is such a nice departure from black and sometimes a bit more interesting than the stock standard blue.

The Big Chill

boy redo

For what feels like the 100th time this year, NYC found itself dusted in snow.  Having now been here for 6 months, I’ve observed that layering and a fabulous long coat is the only way to go when it’s this cold. (It’s also a fantastic alternative to the Michelin man look) 🙂

A leopard coat is always a good idea-or leopard in general for that matter.  Definitely a fan of SEA’s interpretation.

Jungle Queen

Jungleqhalf

This weekend started off with the arrival of major sniffles. My immune system hasn’t failed me all Winter-until now.  Coconut water, vitamin B and green smoothies, all combined with my trusty Vicks, helped me attempt to enjoy my downtime.  By Sunday, I was at least going in the right direction; enough to squeeze in a sneaky Ramen soup at Ippudo.  Naturally I put on my brightest tee mixed with trusty leopard as my version of fashion medicine.

Winter Stripe

I am fortunate that my job doesn’t clip my fashion wings. (ie: distressed jeans are totally acceptable in the workspace).  I do find a tailored pant from time to time adds the sophistication I sometime secretly miss.  My go to classic black trouser has always been Theory.  Their clean lines and equally structured blazers are the perfect closest staple.  However; these cropped tuxedo pants from Barneys were perfection with their navy stripe and shorter hem.

I Heart You

vdayF

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite times of year.  There is always a flurry of the usual chocolates and flowers between couples, but I also love the fact that it’s the perfect opportunity to remind best friends, new relationships, co-workers or siblings how special they are.  These are some of my favorite “I love you’s” that have that little something extra.
