Chain Gang

It’s no secret that one of my favorite accessory destinations is Gemma Redux.  I’m so obsessed, that their annual sample sale has me setting my alarm for 2 and 3am (one of the down sides to living in the opposite time zone) 🙂  I never play favorites with my collection, but the Omne is by far my most versatile piece.  I love that it can morph from necklace to bracelet and has endless styling options depending on my mood.

Back to Black

One item I literally have multiple variations of is the little black dress. It always provides the perfect opportunity for my accessories to run a bit wild.  I loved the extra volume and shape of this piece, and the fact that I can belt it for a totally different look, cinched the deal (so to speak) 🙂

Weekend Uniform

Weekends are always a time for me to decompress and switch off from the stresses of the work week.  I have to admit, some Saturday’s I am guilty of sporting my Eberjey jammies for most of the day and catching up on my favorite TV.  However, weekends are usually full of runs over the bridge into the city, or drinks with friends.  My go to uniform is always a blazer and jeans.  It proves the best direction when I want to be comfortable, but still pulled together.

I am normally a fairly casual dresser.  Distressed denim, vintage tee and a blazer make up my uniform in some variation for most occasions.  However; I knew when I purchased this top, the obnoxiously large bow would be fun.  I quite literally can pair it with anything and I love the girly contrast against a sharply tailored blazer.

Lucky

My first girls trip to Vegas was definitely memorable. (Some things will remain unmentioned of course 🙂 )  The food, shows and shopping were all in keeping with the city’s vibe: over the top and bundles of fun.

I had just graduated college, and got my first taste of the designer mecca housed in Caesar’s Palace.  I knew on my small budget, I wouldn’t be able to afford anything, but I couldn’t help just “looking” at the hot pink plaid that caught my eye in Dolce and Gabbana.  I love pink and have an unusual fondness for plaid (perpetuated by my grandmother’s clothing choices for me as a child).  The fashion god’s were definitely in my corner that day because to my shock, it was on sale-and bonus I could afford it.  Ever since that day back in 2005, my lucky hat has been just that, and always reminds me of that unforgettable weekend.

Vintage Snake

tux top half

This week was super busy and jam packed.  A business trip to Melbourne proved a bit stressful with bumpy flights both ways (I’m not a good flyer) and horrible weather. Melbourne is one of those cities that getting lost is the best way to find something special, which is exactly how I found some of my top spots.

Unfortunately with an early flight, I had very little time to visit my favorite haunts, but of course, I made the most of what I did have.  After a quick bite at one of my favorite hole in the wall cafes, I had just enough time to visit Koko Black for some dark chocolate cherry truffles and a breeze through the most amazing vintage boutique.  I immediately spotted a gorgeous snakeskin clutch that I knew was a fantastic find.  It was in perfect vintage condition from the 1970’s.  After a quick swipe of my credit card, I had just enough time to hail a cab in the rain for the airport!

Eyelet

eyelet half half

For me, eyelet is one of those signature fabrics that epitomizes Spring.  Something about it is fresh and girly and always adds amazing detail.  White is the quintessential color choice for me, and with the pairing of a tough little jacket and bright coral denim, it transforms this sweet top into something a bit edgier.
