Anchors Away

anchor new

I have always loved stripes, or anything with a nod to nautical (must be my Southern roots). However;  I wanted to do a twist on the standard navy and white, red accents and nautical accessories by replacing the red with a hot pink, mixing two different stripes, and opting for gold beads in lieu of my signature chain link.  I love how these tiny tweaks give a fresh take on an otherwise basic trend.

(Coral and white stripes paired with a mint blazer or skirt is another version of this I absolutely love).

The sky really is the limit…or should I say rainbow. anchor half half

Double Denim

double shoulder

My weekends are always casual and relaxed-which usually translates into my outfit selection. I’m currently loving the pairing of different denims and chambray, and the distressing of my vintage cut offs were the perfect opposition to a darker, more serious denim jacket.  You really can’t make a mixing mistake as long as there is some level of contrast.

Tutu

When I was young, I was a total tomboy.  Hard to believe if you know me now, but my favorite toys were G.I. Joe’s and race cars and I despised the color pink.  This could be why I feel so strongly about owning at least one uber girly piece, and mine had to be a full on tutu.  I’ll admit, I got some strange looks from my husband when I purchased this, to which I replied, “Every girl needs a tutu”. (Mine just came 20 years later) I love it!  Paired with a neutral shoe and classic top, I was able to make up for my missed childhood experience. :)

Pink & Green

Color can be so crucial to an outfit.  I’ve literally spent months looking for the perfect shade of (insert color here), and many times ended up settling on something that is “close” but not quite what I was after.  This is why, when I come across color perfection, I will always indulge.

Pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations, and in both cases, I came across the perfect shades.  I had been on the hunt for a green accessory for months, and fell in love with the color and geometric detailing of these shoes. Hot pink python clutch…..um, that was a no brainier!

Baubles

I am always looking for accessories that are on trend and pack a punch when added to a simple outfit. Of course, I have my investment pieces that are simple and somewhat safe, but I also love indulging in bright colors and intense statement jewels.

Enter Bauble Bop:  This relative newcomer is a giant online jewellery box full of amazing goodies that span the spectrum.  A gold link necklace and delicate anchor studs fall into my must have box, knowing they will work with everything.  However; I am really drawn to the brightly hued necklaces and candy jewel tones as well.

The owner hand selects new pieces weekly, and with the prices perfect for the frugal fashionista, the hardest part is deciding what to add to your basket!

Chain Gang

It’s no secret that one of my favorite accessory destinations is Gemma Redux.  I’m so obsessed, that their annual sample sale has me setting my alarm for 2 and 3am (one of the down sides to living in the opposite time zone) :)   I never play favorites with my collection, but the Omne is by far my most versatile piece.  I love that it can morph from necklace to bracelet and has endless styling options depending on my mood.

Back to Black

One item I literally have multiple variations of is the little black dress. It always provides the perfect opportunity for my accessories to run a bit wild.  I loved the extra volume and shape of this piece, and the fact that I can belt it for a totally different look, cinched the deal (so to speak) :)
